    Introduction

    The Nantais property is a Au-Ag-Cu-Zn project about 110 km east of the Rex Trend, a vast underexplored region characterized by a strong 300-km-long copper anomaly in lake-bottom sediments, coupled with a strong 100-km-long REE anomaly. Nantais is about 80 km south of Glencore’s Raglan nickel mine and 115 km southwest of the Inuit village of Kangiqsujuaq. The project covers 32 km of an underexplored greenstone belt, and three historical showings are present on the property. Target deposit types are gold-rich polymetallic VMS and shear zones.

  • The 2019 work program consisted of systematic prospecting on target areas that Azimut had defined by integrating heliborne Mag-EM surveys, remote sensing data, geochemical modelling of lake-bottom sediments, and prospecting work. The highlights included:

    • The discovery of a 1.6-km-long gold-bearing area with grades up to 6.91 g/t Au, 16.4 g/t Ag and 0.22% Cu, spatially associated with a 1.1-km-long EM conductor. Grab samples collected in this area, mostly from angular boulders, are composed of sheared mafic volcanics with quartz veins and pyrite.
    • Improved definition, through infill prospecting, of a previously recognized polymetallic corridor, 3.1 km long by up to 500 m wide, in the central part of the property yielding best grab sample grade of 17.4 g/t Au, 8.82 g/t Ag, 0.2% Cu and 245 g/t Ag, 1.62% Pb, 6.45% Zn.

  • The Nantais property covers 32 km of an underexplored greenstone belt in the Nantais Complex of the Archean Minto Subprovince (Superior Province). Mineralization (pyrrhotite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, arsenopyrite, sphalerite, galena) is hosted in a steeply dipping north-trending unit of mafic and felsic volcanic rocks. This mineralized corridor correlates well with EM conductors.
